Mount Vernon United Methodist Church » Prayer Shawl Ministry

Because there are so many people in need of prayer, and because we want to do more than just say we are praying for them here at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, we have a prayer shawl ministry so that we are able to offer tangible evidence to those for whom we are praying.

After the prayer shawls are dedicated at the altar and given to the recipients, the blessings will not come just from the people who created them, not just from those who are part of the prayer shawl ministry, but from the entire congregation.

Prayer:

Gracious, loving, and healing God, bless these prayer shawls that they might be tangible evidence of the love and prayers of the congregation of Mt. Vernon UMC. As the shawls wrap around the shoulders of the recipients, enfold them with your divine healing grace, strengthen them in your love, and keep them ever present in your care.

People:

Bless those who receive these prayer shawls. Give them comfort, peace, healing, and strength. Remind them that they are loved and never forgotten. We ask your blessing on all who are lonely, sick, and suffering. In Jesus name and for His sake. Amen
